Dolomites - South Tyrol's ski areas
In South Tyrol skiers and snowboarders are spoilt for choice, with 1,220 kilometres of downhill runs in 12 ski resorts belonging to the Dolomiti Superski network in the east, 15 resorts comprising the Ortler Ski Arena in the west of the region, both flanked by the ski areas Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal and Vipiteno/Sterzing and environs in the North, plus the Jochgrimm ski resort in the South. The following is an overview of the individual ski areas and their latest special winter offers.
Dolomiti Superski Association:
1 ski pass for 12 valley systems, 1,200 km groomed runs, over 700 km of which are in South Tyrol. 240 kilometres are graded easy, 840 kilometres graded medium and 120 kilometres of downhill runs graded as challenging. Snow is guaranteed on 750 kilometres of runs covered by snowmaking equipment. During the special early winter deal “DolomitiSuperskiPremiere” covering the period from 1st to 22nd December 2007 holidaymakers can book eight days for the price of six. In addition, attractive deals for children during the entire winter season make skiing holidays lighter on the family budget.
Ortler Skiarena Association: This ski association in the western part of South Tyrol covers the area from Bolzano/Bozen as far as the upper Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley system:1 ski pass for 15 ski resorts, of which 13 are located in South Tyrol, with 75 lift systems serving 300 km of groomed downhill runs.
Ski area Vipiteno/Sterzing and environs: The ski region Vipiteno/Sterzing and environs comprises the 3 resorts Ladurns, Rosskopf and Ratschings with 51 kilometres of downhill runs, most of which are graded medium.Ski area Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal: This “twin valley”, the Tures/Taufers and Aurina/Ahrn Valley also offers extensive, broad slopes in its 2 resorts with 45 kilometres of runs between them. Two “small but beautiful” and intimate ski resorts.During the period from 01.12. to 22.12.2007, and again from 29.03. to 13.04.2008 holidaymakers can avail themselves of free weekly ski passes and need only pay their accommodation: 6 days of free skiing! At Rio Bianco/Weissenbach special family package deals are on offer for the period 1.12. 07 to 13.4.2007.
Ski resort Jochgrimm: Jochgrimm is located in the very south of South Tyrol close to the villages of Aldino/Aldein and Redagno/Radein at 2000 m altitude, between the Dolomite summits Weisshorn and Schwarzhorn. It boasts a modest 7 km of downhill runs but 60 km of cross-country ski trails. Jochgrimm is a small, scenic and very intimate family-friendly resort.
