All of them have been selected with utmost care according to strict criteria: quality, beauty, class, comfort, impeccable service. In a word: luxury.

Managing the Italia Lodging website we have been dealing with many different kinds of accommodation over the years, and quality has always been the main keyword in the selection of lodgings to be listed. As the overall level of hotels and country inns grew higher and higher, we soon realised that some of them were somewhat special and tended to stand out both aesthetically and qualitatively: beyond high standards, they had “personality”. They were not simply farm houses or standard hotels, so we thought they deserved particular attention and should be promoted separately in a website that could exalt all their charm and style.

“Luxury Accommodation in Italy” was devised following the exalting idea of creating a “luxury only” network, a garland of incomparable pearls all over Italy which are so different form each other yet all so fascinating, so gorgeous, so luxurious. Just a few selected places, all bookable on-line, for the most demanding clients who plan to spend an exclusive stay in Italy filling their eyes with beauty and wrapping themselves in a soft blanket of comfort, treat and class.

Take your time, have a look. Choosing your destination is not going to be an easy task.

http://www.luxury-accommodation-italy.com/
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

The very modern ski lifts make the area of Canazei a model resort in the alpine arc, directly linked to the Giro del Sellaronda. Set in a stupendous natural basin and at the foot of some of the most alluring Dolomite peaks, Canazei has seen a notable expansion in building work during the last decade, while remaining firmly tied to its Ladin origins and traditions, of which many visible traces remain in the architecture like they do in popular customs. Great care is taken to safeguard and look after the customs of the Ladin people who here, like elsewhere, are welcomed in dance, theatre and culture groups. At the end of each summer the representatives of all the Ladino peoples gather at Canazei for the "Gran festa da d'ista", now a classic meeting of local tradition. Canazei represents an ideal match between nature and sport, shows and culture, relaxation and night life: there are, in fact, many typical bars and restaurants, pubs, après ski and piano bars where people go, especially in winter, until the first light of dawn.

Mazzin
Mazzin (m 1372 a.s.l.) is the smallest municipality in the Val di Fassa and includes the villages of Campestrin and Fontanazzo. The town is known for the discovery of important traces of early human settlements, Rhaetian in origin (Doss dei Pigui), and furthermore preserves the only example of a rustic manorhouse in the whole valley, known as "casa Battel" which has a triangular-capped tower and frescos and decorations of notable artistic value. In the past Mazzin was made famous as the town of "pitores", the artisan decorators who at one time used to migrate with the seasons in search of houses to paint. Like every town in the Val di Fassa, Mazzin is a favourite departure point, especially in summer, for many outings to the nearby Dolomite peaks. In winter cross-country skiing enthusiasts can set off from here directly onto the beautiful track of the Marcialonga which goes as far as Canazei and then returns across the valley floor; for downhill skiing enthusiasts a widespread network of ski buses ensures a quick transfer to the ski-lifts in the nearby resorts.

Vigo di Fassa
The village of Vigo di Fassa (m 1393 a.s.l.) is situated up on a wide piece of terracing in a dominant position of the valley with views that stretch all around from Cima Undici and Cima Dodici as far as Marmolada. In summer this sunny resort enjoys a special status as a departure point for hundreds of outings and climbs in the Catinaccio group. After a few minutes in a modern cable-car directly from the village you will reach the natural terrace of Ciampedìe at 1998 m. which acts as a panoramic balcony of rare beauty giving 360° views from Catinaccio as far as the Pale di San Martino. In winter Ciampedìe acts as the focal point for the skiing area, where, thanks to the most up to date artificial snow making equipment, snow is assured from as early as the end of November. In summer and winter this magnificent Dolomite natural terrace runs an innovative and well attended "Baby Park Ciampediè" where children of all ages find their every wish fulfilled. Vigo is the headquarters of the Ladino Cultural Institute, the driving force behind the study and protection of Ladin culture, which in recent years has seen exponential growth and considerable success in the whole of the Fassa community. Also belonging to Vigo di Fassa are the villages of San Giovanni, Vallonga and Tamion, small settlements which preserve intact some interesting examples of Ladino architecture.

Moena
Moena (m 1184 a.s.l.) is the gateway to the Val di Fassa and marks the ideal border with the nearby Valle di Fiemme. It rises out of a splendid alluvial basin surrounded by some of the most alluring Dolomite groups which include the Latemar, the Valaccia and the green expanses of the Costalunga pass. It is the main town of the Valle di Fassa, known both in Italy and abroad as the "fairy of the Dolomites", which encapsulates its charm and tradition which are linked to stories lost in the mists of time. The village, which is well looked after architecturally, is notable for the attractive elegance seen in the boutiques, where you have the chance to satisfy your most demanding high-class shopping desires. Furthermore, Moena has shown in recent years that is very responsive to the Ladin culinary tradition and provides successful gastronomic reviews such as "Dinner with King Laurino" in winter and "Flavours of autumn" in September. In summer the area offers its guests many walking opportunities and many mountain bike tracks of varying grades of difficulty. It is already the classic mountain bikers' homeland where the route of the "Rampilonga" runs which with its 4500 participants has become the largest mountain bike marathon in Italy. In winter, though, Moena thrives in the heart of the Ski Area Tre Valli, featuring a functional network of ski lifts and splendid slopes whether at Alpe di Luisa or at Passo San Pellegrino, as well as an equipped cross-country skiing centre.

Fedaia Pass
Situated at 2054 m. you reach the pass having passed the hamlets of Penia and Pian Trevisan. The area features the presence of the imposing artificial embrace defined by the dam which blocks the top of the Avisio valley, from which a 1.85 km lake originated. The Fedaia Pass, in view of the Marmolada (Queen of the Dolomites) glacier, is well attended in summer and in winter. On the southern side of the Marmolada there is a famous skiing area served by a single cable car which runs very frequently from the end of February to the beginning of May when the views and the snow conditions are incomparable. This is a real paradise for off-piste enthusiasts and for climbing in sealskin boots, while in summer it is a ’must’ for walking enthusiasts and for traces of the World Wars.

San Pellegrino Pass
The San Pellegrino Pass (m.1918) is a wide alpine pass of interest to tourists, about 11 km from Moena and marks the border between Trentino and the province of Belluno. It is the destination in summer of numerous outings, whether on the slopes of Costabella and the Monzoni Group or towards the area of the Col Margherita and Cima Bocche with interesting communication trenches dating back to the first world war; in winter, the ski resort which is being developed is equipped with modern ski-lifts and pistes of varying length and difficulty which are directly connected to the Tre Valli carousel and to the ski resort of Falcade. The Pass features some prestigious hotels, which give direct access to the slopes, ideal for those who love the purest skiing and the slopes are always lit up by the sun. The Alochet cross country centre, with superb tracks set in the splendour of the woods, is well known by lovers of cross country skiing.

Campitello di Fassa
The village of Campitello (m. 1448 a.s.l.) is dominated by the imposing mass of the Sassolungo and by the Col Rodella (2404m) from where you can admire one of the most wonderful landscapes of the Dolomite arc whose summit is reachable directly from the village with a fast and regular cable car service. In winter you can choose from a wide variety of skiing opportunities offered by the Col Redella/Belvedere ski carousel which is served by the most up to date ski-lifts and a very advanced artificial snow-making system which guarantees maximum piste opening right from the start of the season. It takes only a few minutes from here to reach the ski-lifts and slopes which run from the Sella Pass to the Val Gardena and the Sellaronda circuit, while in summer it is a departure point for a myriad of walks and excursions which lead towards the Sassolungo group of mountains, the Sasso Piatto and the Scilliar plateau. Close to the valley's cable-car station at Ischia, set in the green of the beautiful walk which links Campitello with Canazei, a modern well-equipped sports centre has been developed in recent years which has amongst other things a permanent climbing wall, a Rollerblade hockey court, a basketball court, mini football, tennis, golf driving range, even a landing area for those keen on paragliding and hang-gliding which have made this area an international meeting point.

Pozza di Fassa
The village of Pozza di Fassa (m 1320 a.s.l.), with its outlying area of Pera, is located in the widest part of the valley at the confluence of the Avisio and Rio San Nicolò rivers. The village also benefits from a wide expanse of land set in a sunny basin over which Cima Undici and Cima Dodici hang. A particularly devoted clientele come to this pleasant resort and are assured of outings, walks, rock, geology, the Monzoni mountains, Gardeccia, the Vajolet Towers, direct contact with nature and, in recent years, the renovated ski resort of "Buffaure" which is really appreciated by everyone for its scenery and the gentleness of the slopes. The Aloch ski slope or "Ski Stadium Val di Fassa" is very well known and well attended in winter where the slopes are lit up every evening for night time skiing: it is a real snow stadium with courses suited to international downhill skiing competitions, to professional coaching and to high quality daytime and night-time shows, while for cross-country enthusiasts it reserves not only access to the Marcialonga circuit but also a good chance to do the Ciancoal Ring, which is enjoyable for the variety of its rhythms and guaranteed snow, and which is particularly attractive at night-time thanks to artificial lighting. In summer, as well as the Catinaccio and the Larsec Crags which change with the magical colours of Enrosadira and which offer a myriad of excursion opportunities, the Val San Nicolò and the Monzoni mountains, on the other side, present gratifying moments of peace and serenity.

Soraga
In the Ladin language "sorega", "super aqua", clearly defines the position of the village in relation to the Avisio river. Soraga (m 1210 a.s.l.) is considered one of the Val di Fassa's oldest settlements, which over the years has learnt how to grow and maintain its beauty, as well as keeping typical Ladin features intact. The village is set on the slopes of the Valaccia and is overlooked by the Catinaccio Group and the Roda di Vael; the central Fassa feature promotes a culture of calm and relaxation, offering the chance of fantastic walks to the ever-increasing number of admirers. In winter the cross-country skiers find a real paradise of slopes next to the hotels and Alpine skiing enthusiasts can reach the nearest ski areas in a few minutes and in comfort. Calm, simplicity and excellent value for money make Soraga one of the goals most coveted by the tourist.

Costalunga Pass
The original name is Carezza (m.1745) which derives from the German dialect term "KAR", or rather bowl, to indicate a concave shape between the mountains. It is about 8 km from Vigo di Fassa and extends over a wide field-like ridge set between the slopes of the Latemar group and the far ends of the Catinaccio group of mountains. The pass enjoys a very beautiful panoramic perspective and a favourable position facing the sun. Ski-lifts, some of which are especially suitable for beginners, and many walks of varying difficulty leave from Carezza. The unforgettable sensation of the Enrosadira at dusk: King Laurino and his elves used to live right here...

Pordoi Pass
The Sass Pordoi and the Sass Becé surround the Pordoi Pass (m. 2239). It marks the border between the provinces of Trento and Belluno and is 12 km from Canazei (featuring 28 bends). From the pass which has quick access to the Boé Group by means of a very modern cable-car, which in a few minutes reaches the 2950 m. of the Sass Pordoi, where you have 360° views across the whole Alpine arc. From here, in winter, you can face the demanding descent of the fork of the same name or come down the challenging Val Lasties (given the nature of these runs, they can be attempted only when perfect snow conditions allow). In summer you can travel along one of the numerous paths that pass through this incredible lunar landscape...

Sella Pass
The Val di Fassa connects with the Val Gardena along the SS 242 main road, which in 12 km takes you from Canazei to the Sella Pass (m. 2244), set on a grassy ridge which separates the Sassolungo group from the Sella group. It is overlooked by the splendid Torri del Sella and by the barrier of the Mesules, but what actually defines the view of Sella is the Sassolungo group of mountains which reach 3181 m. In winter and in summer the area around the Sella Pass offers various access routes to the main hubs for skiing and tours of every level and difficulty

Web surce:
http://www.dolomitisuperski.com
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

One of the main reasons is the natural beauty of the Sella walls which, combined with the exposure, make the ascent up to the Torre Exner a highly satisfying outing. Other factors include its easy access, the possibility of cutting the itinerary short in bad weather, Rifugio Cavazza, the option of climbing up to Pissadù and, last but not least, the famous suspension bridge. Try to avoid the weekend crowds so as to get the most of this fantastic outing.

Getting there

Take the road to Passo Gardena and the car park and disused quarry at 1956m, six hairpin bends beneath the Pass towards Val Badia.

Access

From the car park at 1956m follow the marked path to the base of the ferrata. Alternatively, from Passo Gardena take path no. 666 for about 30 mins to join the ferrata slightly above the start.

Ascent

Start by climbing up the first vertical face using the metal cables to reach a terrace and the path that leads in from Passo Gardena. Continue to beneath the east face of Torre Exner and follow the well-equipped ferrata up and leftwards. A variation leads off through the wide gully at about 2350m to the Masores plateau and Rifugio Cavazza. The ferrata however continues steeply up the east face to reach a series of ladders shortly beneath the summit, to then traverse leftwards across the suspension bridge which spans the deep gap. Once on the Masores terrace, stride across to Rifugio Cavazza and lake Pissadù just a stone’s throw away.

Descent

Take path no. 666 northwest down Val Setùs. Cables have been fixed on the steepest sections and snow patches may still be present in late August. The path joins up with the one that coasts beneath Torre Brunico and leads back down to the car park

Surce

http://www.dolomiti.org/

Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

It follows a natural line diagonally leftwards and, leading relatively easily into the heart of King Laurin’s kingdom, is quite simply unforgettable. One of the most famous rock formations in the Dolomites meets the eye at the gateway to the Gartl valley: the mythical Torri del Vaiolet. The Ferrata Passo Santner is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and famous round-trips in the Dolomites.

Getting there:
From Pozza di Fassa drive to Passo Costalunga and continue on right at the fork for the Laurin chairlift at M.ga Frommer. Take this to Rif. Fronza alle Coronelle. From Carezza take the chairlift to Rif. Paolina and continue on path no. 552-549 to Rif. Fronza. From Vigo di Fassa take the cable car Ciampediè to Rifugio Ciampediè and then continue on paths no. 549 and 552 to Rif. Fronza.

Access:
From Rif. Fronza take path no. 550 up polished rocks quickly to the fork. Turn off left onto path no. 542 to cross Catinaccio’s SW face. The start of the ferrata proper is located on a scree terrace.

Ascent
From the scree terrace follow the ferrate across ladders, pegs and cables up north through gullys and across minor saddles. The path twists and turns in search of the easiest line through this rock maze to reach the highest col at 2680m. Cross this and descend carefully into a gully which often remains covered in snow. Climb up the opposite flank on the gully’s left-hand side to reach Passo Santner, 2760m, just a few minutes walk away from Rifugio Santner and the Via Normale climbing routes to the Catinaccio peaks. The panorama westwards onto the green Alto Adige deep below is stupendous.

Descent: From Passo Santner follow path no. 542 down into the Gartl and the monumental Tre Torri del Vajolet. Reach Rifugio Re Alberto (2700m) and the lake at the foot of these famous towers, to continue through the large basin on path no. 542 through this massif, polished by the thousands of footsteps to the famous refuges Vajolet and Preuss (2243m). Proceed towards the Gardeccia basin to then follow signs right (no. 541). This path traverses beneath the Catinaccio’s east face to the fork and path no. 550, which leads steeply up to and over Passo delle Coronelle (2630m) to then return to Rif. Fronza. Alternatively, for those wishing to return to Rif. Ciampediè and Vigo di Fassa, follow path no. 546 from Rif. Vajolet to Rifugio Gardeccia and then continue on path no. 540 to climb up to Rifugio Ciampediè.

Surce:
http://www.dolomites.org/
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

The eclectic mix of majestic mountains and grassy fields, together with a rich cultural heritage makes Fiè and its surrounding areas one of the most exciting holiday destinations in Europe. The village of Fiè allo Sciliar is situated on an extensive plateau at the foot of the world-famous Dolomites mountain range, overlooking the Eisacktal valley. Fiè and its surrounding areas are dominated by the impressive Sciliar mountain, whose highly particular shape has made it the very symbol of South Tyrol. The east-facing slopes are of average difficulty and are surrounded by an imposing, spectacular environment with wonderful views over the Cortina valley below and the encircling massifs above and around. Since the altitudes of the slopes range from 2850m to 2200m of height, snow conditions are excellent till late spring (in 2001, for a short period of time, skiing was possible even in July).
Internet: www.freccianelcielo.com

Skiing at Tofana area
Splendid, red and black demanding slopes, such as the legendary Canalone, the Vertigine Bianca or the Olimpia, where the Women's World Cup downhill race takes place every year.Afternoon shadows come early except for the upper part, where the sun remains above the horizon till late.

Skiing at Socrepes, Lacedel, Pocol
This area lies at the foot of the Tofane group; its ski-slopes, all easy and particularly suitable to children and beginners, are the perfect site for the very first ski lessons. The area is connected to the other pistes of the Tofane.

Skiing at Faloria
In just a couple of minutes the modern Faloria cable car transports you up to 2134m.Once on the summit simply choose from one of the 30 km of perfectly groomed pistes, the pride and joy of our skiing area. The Vitelli four-man chairlift takes you to the top of numerous fantastic descents. The Faloria pistes are reached either by Faloria cable car, which starts in the center of Cortina, or from the village Rio Gere, located 7km from Cortina center. Ample parking facilities are available here.Rio Gere can also be reached by skibus.And... at Rio Gere the Faloria pistes are linked to the Cristallo area. From Winter Season 2004/2005 the way to Faloria pistes from Rio Gere is more comfortable and faster, thanks to the new four-men chairlift "Pian de ra Bigontina".
The Faloria cable car was built in 1939. At the time the only lift at Cortina was the Cortina-Belvedere to Pocol. Although this no longer exists, it nevertheless shrunk in comparison to the 900m Funivia Faloria. The construction of the cable car, also known as the “Prince of Piemonte”, was hailed as a great technological feat. The new cable car represented a revolution for skiing in Cortina. All of a sudden a vast skiing area at 2100m became easily accessible to thousands of skiers!Three stations were constructed- the valley station at 1230m, located next to the bus station (at the time train station)- the half-way station at Mandres, 1500 m- the top station at Faloria a 2120 mThe original cable car has been modernised and the current top station is not the original – the remains of this can be seen when walking along the Faloria path.

Falzarego
The Cinque Torri - Averau area is certainly the best in Cortina for skiing. The northern exposure of some runs offers excellent snow conditions throughout the winter and the new snowmaking facilities guarantee a perfect snowcover even when snowfalls are poor. The southern slopes as well , descending from Rifugio Averau to Rifugio Fedare and the Giau Pass, are excellent for skiing.
The ski-runs in the Cinque Torri area extend over two opposite slopes. The north-facing one counts a larger number of tracks connecting Rifugio Averau to Bai de Dones; whereas, there is only one run on the south-facing slope from Forcella Nuvolau to Rifugio Fedare in the Giau Pass area. All the slopes, ranging from easy to intermediate ratings, are highly rewarding for the beauty of the landscape. The favourable exposure of north-facing slopes guarantees
The Cinque Torri lie within the Dolomiti Superski area, and convenient connections to the nearby areas are provided.
The area can be reached skiing from the Falzarego Pass along a connection trail; while a very frequent skibus service provides transportation back to the Pass. The same skibus service, in the opposite direction, leads to the Pocol-Tofana area and Cortina lifts.
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

This mountain, seen from Canazei in the early morning light, is not particularly attractive and some even consider it repulsive. The ferrata however leads up to its summit and one of the most spectacular views onto the Marmolada and the Sella massif. Technically speaking the section at half-height up steep, stepped terrain is the most demanding both physically and mentally and should pose no particular problems as the ferrata is well-equipped throughout.

Getting there: From Canazei in Val di Fassa drive to Alba and the cable car Funivia del Ciampac. Take this to the top at 2170 m.

Access: From the cable car descend along the piste east to a small artificial lake. Walk up the opposite slope along a narrow path past hairpin bends to the start and the first cables (15 mins).

Ascent: The ferrata begins immediately with an equipped section that leads to a path which continues leftwards to the base of a large sloping ramp directly beneath a steep vertical face. Climb up the ramp, keeping close to the wall: the ramp poses no particular difficulties but is covered in rubble and scree. After a short descent climb up a steeper section that leads to the ferrata’s crux. Ascend this difficult, vertical face via a series of stepped terrain (well-equipped). The face soon levels out and the ferrata continues more easily over less demanding terrain. A steep section leads to the final gully and then, leftwards, to the finishing crest. Follow this directly to the summit.

Descent: From the summit scramble down the SE face past sections equipped with cables. The route now leads pleasantly onto the Ciampac face before descending steeply (cables) onto the Contrin face. Traverse beneath beautiful yellow/grey limestone towers and descend a gully on its right to the metal cables. A nice path now traverses at altitude before rising up to Forcia Neigra at 2509m and then descending quickly SW to Ciampac.

Surce: www.dolomiti.org

Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

The famous king was the guardian of this enchanted valley, where even today a fire is lit every evening at dusk giving origin to the unforgettable phenomenon of light called Enrosadira. Over time the Ladins of the Valle di Fassa have guarded this valley of incomparable beauty, stretching over about 20 km and surrounded by some of the Dolomites’ most famous peaks: Roda di Vael, Catinaccio, Sassolungo, the Sella group, Pordoi, Monzoni, over which Marmolada stands undisputed. Since tourism began in the nineteenth century the Val di Fassa has opened its doors to an ever-increasing clientele, making the most of its economic potential. Tourism today has become the principal industry of the valley and the results are tangible. There is a large network of paths and walks, endless opportunities for sport and relaxation, tradition and culture, hospitality and fun, and nine ski resorts with 200 km of pistes.

Surce: www.fassa.com
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

From the first nobles who climbed up to the summit to see the world from the top, to the hunters who chased their preys along ledges and gorges, to the curious who climbed just to arrive a little further, all these have been the pioneers of the alpinism. From that time, things have changed a lot, equipment are different and techniques evolved as well as the aim of the alpinists. Classic itineraries are always there, they are always the same and shout always the same defiance. The Apine Guide will help you go over again the tracks of the first climbers, you will reach the summit following different difficult routes. Prices of these ascents vary according to length and difficulty grade.

http://www.guidecortina.com
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy

When joined to the Giuseppe Olivieri ferrata at Punta Anna (see related itinerary) it makes up a long and difficult, but highly satisfying traverse for the well-trained. Even though the route is made easier by the cable car which leads to the summit, because of its height and the possibility of bad weather it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Getting there
From Cortina take the “Freccia nel Cielo” cable car as far as the second station of Rif. Ra Valles.

Access
The starting point, unless coming from the G. Olivieri Ferrata or the Sentiero attrezzato G. Olivieri, is the middle station of the Ra Valles cable car. From here, ignore signs for the “Olivieri” and Punta Anna, and ascend (SW) along the marked path to the Doss de Tofana, where the ferrata begins (2900m).

Ascent
From the Doss de Tofana, after some steps and a vertical drop, equipped with a ladder, the itinerary leads onto the SW face and along ledges to the Torre Gianni Aglio gorge. Use the fixed cables to traverse the east face of the Torre (difficult and exposed, keep rope tight). After another airy traverse on the north face, reach the large Bus de Tofane “window” at 2920m up steps and rubble. It is possible to descend the scree slope from here to path no. 403, which links to Rifugio Giussani and Rifugio Dibona. For the summit, however, continue up slopes (at times snowy) and, after a ramp with avalanche barriers and two vertical drops equipped with ladders, follow the marked rocky path to the cross at the summit.

Descent
Descend to the Rifugio Cima Tofana and the cable car station. At the dawn of 1900 it was just a small inn, to host the first tourists travelling along the Road of the Dolomites that had just been built. In the 1920s it was transformed into a pension and this marked the beginning of the hotel activities. "Ladin" is a Rhaeto-roman language that is still spoken in the four Ladinian valleys of the Dolomites. Ladin originated from a mix of Latin, spoken by the Roman conquerors, and Celtic (Rhaetian), the language of the territory's first inhabitants. This particular historical circumstance makes of Val Gardena the emblematic meeting point of many European cultures.
The preservation of traditions and cultural patrimony and especially of the Ladin language are a bulwark of this people. "Bën unì" = "Welcome": by listening to this arcane language or watching a day of celebration with the Gardenesi dressed in their traditional costumes, it is possible, as if by magic, to rediscover all the shine and glamour of the past.

Val Gardena is quickly becoming an important centre thanks to the many cultural projects that take place here. For example, in the last few years, it has hosted the Music FestiVal Gardena (in July and August), a series of classical music concerts by some of the most prestigious world orchestras. Thus, Val Gardena is becoming one of the major points of reference on the international music scene. In the same period, young musicians from all over the world come here to attend the International Music Masterclasses.
Accommodation in the Dolomites, Italy
